Description: R. Baker & Son performed the total site dismantling and removal of Buildings 1 and 4 at the Humacao Facility, Puerto Rico facility.
The project included asbestos and lead abatement, line breaking, confined space entry, rigging, dismantling, selective and total demolition.
Asset/investment recovery exceed $5 million in scrap and surplus assets.

Schering Plough/Novartis - Summit, NJ
Description: R. Baker & Son performed the total plant decommissioning of Novartis Summit, NJ for tranfer of ownership to Schering Plough Corp. for transition to their North American Headquarters.
R. Baker & Son's responsibilities included pipe line breaking, draining, triple rinse cleaning, confined space entry, vessel triple rinse cleaning, equipment cleaning and ductwork cleaning.
Upon completion of this work Schering Plough was able to purchase the facility to begin demolition and build their new headquarters.

Kimberly Clark Pulp Mill - Mobile, AL
Description: R. Baker & Son performed the total plant decommissioning and dismantling of the largest pulp mill in the United States.
To make the facility assets ready for resale, R. Baker & Son performed the decommissioning of the infrastructure. This included equipment and pipe line breaking and draining, glass lined reactors triple rinsed and duct work decommissioned.
After the decommissioning was completed, R. Baker & Son rigged numerous pieces of pulp mill equipment which was then resold providing Kimberly Clark the investment/asset recovery of $2 million dollars which, offset the cost of the decommissioning, dismantling and demolition project.

Arkema Chemicals - Holmdel, NJ
Description: R.Baker & Son perfomed the total plant decommissioning of the former SS White Facility now owned by Arkema Chemical.
R. Baker & Son was contracted to decommission Polymers Plant to make ready for future community development.
The total plant decommission plant project included interior infrastructure dismantling, decommissioning, equipment and pipe line breaking, draining and cleaning, the removal/recycling of mercury vapor switches and bulbs and light ballasts performed by R. Baker & Son's in-house HAZMAT trained personnel.
The main manufacturing building dismantling was done bay by bay from roof to slab on grade level utilizing excavators equipped with shears and materials loaded out with excavators equipped with grapples. The demolition of the Out buildings was performed in the same fashion. This process minimizes and/or eliminates the use of hot work and lead exposure.
The dismantling of the water tower was brought to ground level in a controlled dropped method for further demolition by shears and grapples. Demolition of the concrete slabs were done by track excavators equipped with grapples and concrete breaking attachments and processed on site in R. Baker & Son's crusher into a material that is +/- 1 ½" to 2" and stock piled for Owner in immediate area of building. The asphalt was milled to +/- 1 ½" to 2" and stock piled in immediate area of parking lot for reuse by Owner. The site was then graded and seeded.

BASF Corp. - Lodi, NJ
Description: R. Baker & Son performed the total plant decommissioning of BASF's Pigment Plant located in Lodi, NJ.
The decommissioning was performed under Level 3 PPE which included the removal of tylene from soils; equipment, pipe, line breaking, draining and cleaning. The decommissioning of ungerground process lines, UST's, and the disposal of contaminated soil.
Other decommissioning services included the removal of asbestos, PCBs, lead-based paint, soil and ground water.
Decommissioning of concrete required the installation of five layers of 10-mil poly for staging purposes. R. Baker & Son utilized the Armex Baking Soda Cleaning System during decommissioning procedures to remove colored product from contaminated concrete surfaces.

GATX - Staten Island, NY
Description: R. Baker & Son performed the total plant decommissioning of the bulk oil storage facility including the demolition of 150 above ground tanks, excavaton of dyke walls, and the demolition of 10 buildings to grade including associated equipment and pipe racks.
The project also involved the decommissioning, cleaning and cleaning 10 miles of product pipe lines utilizing HAZMAT trained personnel.
