Riigged a 90 ft. 90 000 lb Evaporator
Rigging
R. Baker and Son rigged a 90 ft. 90 000 lb evaporator which wll be used to produce freeze dried coffee.
This project took one month to complete. R. Baker utilized a 600 ton crane which requires approximately a week for assembly and dismantlement. To start with, R. Baker received all components of the evaporator and made sure everything was in good shape from shipping. As we erected the Manitowoc 18,000 Crane, we had to transfer all components, from over the road trailers to staging trailers, making sure we staged all the components in the correct order, and leaving access and taking into account the sequence of pieces to be set. We also had to stay cognizant of the structural steel being erected, because access was required to install the first floor components before steel cross-sections could be set.
The same goes for each level, as we had to work in conjunction with the Ironworkers, keeping to the schedule. After cross-sections have been set we had to lower two main bottom sections onto their anchorings, making sure they were level, plumb, secured and ready for all upper sections to be set. All of the upper pieces of the evaporator column came in horizontally, we then lifted them with the big crane 18000 Manitowoc and 300 Liehbrre for tripping into the vertical position, to be set down through the structure on top of the lower evaporator column sections. Then we had six days to break down the 18000 Manitowoc Crane (that has 24 trailers of components) to be disassembled and removed, plus the 40 x 60 crane mat area, made up of 12\" x 12\" x 20\' with stone under mats for leveling the area for crane placement.
