Dismantlement and rigging crew rig equipment to groundHeavy Rigging and Dismantlement by R. Baker and Son
Tennessee Valley Authority

R. Baker & Son performed the rigging, dismantling and removal of the SCR Unit 2 Precipitator located at TVA's Cumberland Fossil Plant, Cumberland City, TN facility. 

The project entailed the dismantling and demolition of a 7 story precipitator, steel duct demolition, removal of 1385 cubic yards of flyash and lead abatement.  While R. Baker & Son was performing dismantling and demolition, the TVA was simultaneously performing installation of new steel duct around R. Baker & Son's operations.

R. Baker & Son utilized 1000 ton capacity crane, two 100 ton capacity tower cranes, excavators equipped with shears, bulk liquid oxygen system with lance rods and torches were used in the dismantling and lower  steel  duct, curtains and piping to laydown area for further dismantling and disposal.

All engineered lifts were coordinated with TVA.  All lagging and insulation was removed at lay down yard and was disposed of off site.

Manpower for pre-outage work consisted of (2) 15 man crews for a duration of 11 days working two 12 hour shifts while the manpower for base contract outage work area consisted of (2) 20 man crews for 56 days working two 12 hour shifts.
