Disassemble and Relocate Water Treatment Systems

Water Treatment Systems

When a food manufacturer and longtime R. Baker & Son client decided to sell off their existing reverse osmosis and pH waste neutralization systems at their northeastern Pennsylvania manufacturing facility and upgrade to larger-capacity equipment, our team was called in to handle disassembly, rigging, match-marking, packing, and shipping of the equipment to a buyer in the midwest.

First, both the reverse osmosis and pH waste neutralization systems were shut down, salt and filters were removed, all containers were thoroughly cleaned, and the RO water membranes were isolated and packed for shipment. Next, the pH waste tank and agitators were power washed, and all piping was disconnected and carefully marked and tagged. The unit was shrink-wrapped, rigged from the building, and loaded onto a large trailer.

The stick-built RO water system was photographed and 3D-scanned before all stainless-steel sanitary piping, fittings, and pieces were tagged and labeled in detail so that they could be reassembled as quickly and easily as possible. All hardware was labeled and packed into heavy-duty plastic drums, and gaskets were removed and discarded as they were to be replaced by the new owners once they reached their destination. The RO water tanks, large fiberglass canisters, and membrane housings were loaded onto two box trucks for shipment. The vendor also provided new media, gaskets, various parts, and several instruments to be shipped in the trucks along with the units.

Part of our client’s sales agreement was a guarantee that the new buyer would have everything needed to reassemble the two critical water systems and have them operational within ten days of their arrival, which would hinge upon R. Baker & Son’s thorough documentation, skill in machinery disassembly, careful packing and shipping, and accurate match-marking. This was accomplished as promised, resulting in two very satisfied customers.
